Boston Dynamics, of Waltham, Massachusetts, is the best-known name in legged robotics and, unusually for the sector, a business with real commercial numbers behind it. Owned by Hyundai Motor Group since a December 2020 acquisition valued at $880m, the company deployed more than 500 robots in 2025 and generated roughly $130m in revenue from its Spot quadruped and Stretch logistics robot, according to reporting by The Robot Report.
