We monitor 59 UK and Irish primary sources: the system operators and network companies (NESO, National Grid, SSEN, SP Energy Networks, EirGrid), the regulators (Ofgem, Ofwat), the statutory registers (the Planning Inspectorate's NSIP register, the Scottish Energy Consents Unit, An Coimisiún Pleanála), government departments and the owners and developers themselves.
A project's status changes on this site only when an authoritative source says so — the owner's own published record or the statutory register. Trade press can alert us; it is never, on its own, the basis for a change. The full register is below: the sources, listed →
Every project on the map carries: a named site and a checked coordinate; a live, named source with a link; and a confidence level. Every status carries the date we last verified it — shown honestly, even when that date is not today.
If a source is unreachable or ambiguous, we keep the last verified status and show its age. We do not guess, and we do not quietly fill gaps.
Status is the most perishable fact in infrastructure. So the volatile fields of status, stage and next milestone are rechecked on a published cycle: monthly for the fast-moving sectors, quarterly for the rest. Each cycle runs the same routine against the same source registers: pull the source, compare, classify the change, re-stamp the date.
Stable facts (location, coordinates) are verified once and left alone. Consistency comes from repetition, not judgement calls.
Our forward views on which sectors heat up next and what lands when are built only from published commitments: spending settlements, regulatory determinations, statutory targets, funded pipelines. Every forward statement is labelled as a projection from a named commitment. We read the direction ahead of the money; we don't invent it.
Editorial positions, rankings and data are never for sale. Promotional features are labelled as such, visually walled from editorial, and have no influence on any ranking or figure. If we're wrong, we correct it and date the correction.
The register is public: 59 institutional primary sources, deduplicated and compiled 2026-07-24. The count on this site renders from our source register — it moves only when the register does.

Alongside the register sit two source classes, authoritative for their own projects under § 01 — the published records of each project’s owner or developer, and local planning registers. Trade press remains context, never the basis.
